Where celebrity meets altitude — four mountains, one legendary town
Aspen occupies its own category in Colorado tourism. Four ski mountains — Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands, Buttermilk, and Snowmass — ring a town that has hosted everyone from Hunter S. Thompson to the Aspen Ideas Festival. The Roaring Fork Valley extends northwest from Aspen through Basalt and Carbondale to Glenwood Springs, following the Roaring Fork River through some of the state's most dramatic canyon scenery. The drive from DIA is 222 road miles and takes about four to four and a half hours in clear conditions, mostly along I-70 before turning south at Glenwood Springs onto Highway 82. Independence Pass offers a shortcut in summer but closes October through May.
Winter season runs late November through mid-April. Independence Pass (12,095 ft) closes in winter, making the Glenwood Springs approach the only route. Summer and fall are stunning — the September aspen leaf season draws photographers from around the world.
Aspen is the farthest major resort from DIA — 222 road miles, four to four and a half hours in clear conditions. The standard route follows I-70 to Glenwood Springs, then Highway 82 south through Carbondale and Basalt into Aspen. In winter, this is the only option. In summer, Independence Pass (12,095 feet) opens and shaves 45 minutes off the trip, but it's a white-knuckle drive with sheer drop-offs and no cell service for long stretches.
Aspen/Pitkin County Airport (ASE) sits three miles from town and handles regional jets, but weather cancellations are common — the approach through the Elk Mountains is one of the most challenging in commercial aviation. When flights divert to Grand Junction or Denver, guests need ground transportation on short notice. Arion maintains availability for last-minute diversions.
Aspen's downtown parking is metered and limited. During Food & Wine Classic (June), X Games (January), and peak ski weeks, the town operates a paid parking reservation system that fills days in advance. The free RFTA bus system connects Aspen to Snowmass, Basalt, and Glenwood Springs, but it doesn't go to DIA or ASE arrivals after hours.
The four-hour drive from Denver is where private car service earns its value. A professional chauffeur handles the canyon roads, the weather-dependent route decisions, and the gear logistics. Clients arriving at ASE get curbside pickup at a terminal so small there's no rideshare staging area. For Snowmass and Buttermilk guests, the transfer from the airport runs 15–20 minutes — but good luck getting a cab during X Games.

Yes. Tell us each child's age and weight when booking so the right seat is in the vehicle. Colorado law leaves the installation and the final safety check with the parent or guardian; your chauffeur will help if you ask, and will never rush you at the curb.

With the right vehicle and a trained chauffeur, yes. Colorado's Traction Law (Code 15) on I-70 requires AWD/4WD or snow-rated tires with adequate tread; Arion vehicles meet or exceed it, carry chains, and our chauffeurs are ice-driving trained and monitor CDOT conditions before and during every mountain run.
Dispatch monitors CDOT closures and traction/chain restrictions in real time and will reroute (US-285, US-40, I-70 timing changes) or reschedule your pickup window. We tell you early rather than leaving you guessing at the airport.
Plan an extra 60–90 minutes for Friday and Saturday westbound mornings and Sunday afternoon eastbound returns, and more around holiday weekends and storm cycles. We shift departure times to travel ahead of the peak rather than sitting in it.
Two to four travelers with ski bags fit an Executive or Luxury SUV. Five to seven with full gear should book a Luxury Coach Van so equipment is not on your lap. Large groups and race families can run multiple vehicles on one coordinated dispatch.

Yes, at no extra charge. Tell us the count of ski or board bags, boot bags, and suitcases when booking so the right vehicle is assigned. Bikes, golf clubs, hunting cases, and instruments are also fine with advance notice.
Yes — private transfers go directly to your lodge, condo, rental, or slopeside hotel entrance with no shared stops, plus in-town resort shuttling and on-mountain moves during your stay.
In winter every vehicle runs state-approved winter tires and four-wheel drive. Colorado's Traction Law does not require chains on a 4WD vehicle; our two-wheel-drive vans and buses carry and use the safety equipment the state requires. We also ask our chauffeurs to keep an avalanche preparation kit in the vehicle: flares, roadside triangles, solar blankets, water and snacks. An avalanche beacon is strongly recommended.
We plan for five large suitcases in an SUV, plus a carry-on such as a backpack or purse for each passenger. Our vans hold up to eighteen suitcases. On buses, plan for one suitcase and one carry-on per passenger. Oversized items ride on top of the vehicle, and we can make special arrangements for oversized equipment if you tell us beforehand. We try hard never to have anyone sitting on their luggage, because these are not short trips.

We track flights, so we usually know before you do, and we coordinate with the chauffeur on our end. A driver will be waiting for you regardless of the hour. If the flight is cancelled outright, we issue an immediate credit for the value of the ride and work with you to reschedule around your new flight.

At Aspen your chauffeur waits just inside the Arrivals exit — or just outside it in good weather — with a digital name sign. It is a small terminal and the meet is straightforward.
From November 1 through April 30 we cap the Luxury SUV at five passengers instead of six. That is deliberate: five people plus roughly seven or eight pieces of luggage fits comfortably, six people plus ski gear does not. The Executive SUV seats five year round.

Yes. Aspen/Pitkin County Airport is scheduled to close for reconstruction from April 4 through November 19, 2027. Nothing flies in or out of ASE in that window. Travel to Aspen during the closure routes through Eagle County Regional, Grand Junction or Denver International, all of which Arion serves. If you are planning a 2027 summer wedding or conference in Aspen, build ground time into the schedule now.
Yes. Twenty passengers to Aspen runs either on a group vehicle or on a coordinated multi-vehicle dispatch with one point of contact, and you can reserve a date a year or more out. Group vehicles are the limited part of the fleet and ski-season, holiday and festival weekends fill first, so book as soon as the date is fixed. One note for 2027: Aspen/Pitkin County Airport is closed for reconstruction April 4 through November 19, 2027, so groups traveling in that window route through Eagle County Regional, Grand Junction or Denver International.

I-70 traffic, CDOT traction law and winter storms routinely add an hour or more — weekend westbound mornings and Sunday afternoons are the worst of it. The high point of the drive is the Eisenhower–Johnson Tunnel at 11,158 ft, the highest point on the U.S. Interstate system.
